Painted wall:
Advertisements painted directly upon
building walls or computer-painted on flexible vinyl and attached
to walls. Uniquely proportioned and singularly dimensioned, they
have large-scale (often several stories high) exposure and high
visibility to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Located on major
highways, on commuter and tourist routes and in downtown business
districts, painted walls are custom-designed for long term exposure.
Panels per facing (PPF):
The number of panels one, two or more, at a location which face
the same direction.
Penetration: The degree
of effectiveness of advertising in terms of its impact upon the
public.
Permanent: An outdoor
media unit contracted by a single advertiser for an extended period
of time, usually six months or more.
Permit:
A license granted by the state and/or locality to authorize a sign
structure on a site.
Phone kiosk: Backlit
displays attached to telephone
facilities (kiosks).
Plant:
The term plant refers to an outdoor media company. It may
also refer to all the outdoor media structures in a market operated
by a company.
Plant operator:
A company or individual who operates and maintains outdoor
media structures.
Portal panel:
Mobile portal panel that can be wheeled or carried to a given location.
It is frequently used for merchandizing purposes.
Poster: A generic term
used for advertising messages that are posted on outdoor media structures.
Poster panel: Often
known as 30-sheet; used primarily for full market coverage. Located
on primary or secondary roads throughout commercial areas, poster
panels can be used to surround specific geographic areas or retail
districts, with the ability to deliver high reach and frequency.
Can also refer to an outdoor media structure on which posters are
displayed.
Posting date: The date
on which posters in a GRP Showing are scheduled for display.
Posting instructions:
Detailed information sent to the outdoor media company by an advertiser
or agency. These instructions should include as much marketing information
as possible so that the seller can choose the panels, which have
greatest efficiency in reaching the advertiser's target.
Posting listing: The
process of selecting the individual panels that comprise a contracted
GRP showing.
Posting period: The
length of time during which one panel design is displayed.
Post-rite: in-market
fields check of outdoor media locations during the display period.
Premiere panel:
A standardized outdoor media structure, usually 12í x 25í
or 6í x 12í, with the face fully wrapped in vinyl,
eliminating the molding and increasing the live copy area.
Pre-pasting: A technique
for applying paste to the surface of poster sheets in the plant
rather than in the field.
Pre-press: It uses
both art and science as it takes the creative and prepares it for
the printer. The new technology is rising production quality, which
increases the technical requirements for pre-press also. Communication
between pre-press and printers is vital to ensure a successful outcome.
Pre-ride: in-market
fields check of outdoor media structures to be included in a specific
GRP showing.
Press check: A visit
to the printers facility, by the client or their representative,
to approve a press proof, immediately prior to printing.
Proof of performance: Certification
that outdoor media services have been executes per contract.
Psychographic profile: A
description of a consumer based on how they view themselves within
society. A Psychographic profile includes behavior characteristics
that affect individual lifestyle choices.
Public service advertisement:
Advertisements of a civic or philanthropic nature placed on space
donated by individual lifestyle choices
